M Kevin Lawhon, CLU® Office ProfileKevin Lawhon, CLU, has been appointed Managing Partner of The South Florida Group Fort Lauderdale, effective Jan. 1, 2008. To Kevin, the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network represents everything he strives for in his own life: deep commitment to doing the right thing, a balance between work and family life and a competitive spirit that encourages success. Which is why, to Kevin, there is no greater honor than being a Managing Partner with the Network. Kevin plans to lead by example and "lead by the front," advice he shares with newer financial representatives considering joining leadership. While he acknowledges that the office will face challenges, such as the slowing construction and economy in Florida, he is confident the best is yet to come. "Our goal is to continue building a first-class network office that can serve all the needs of our clients, from insurance to investments." And his goals are high for others around him. "When I retire, I want to have more managing directors and more managing partners come from our office than any other, as well as be the No. 1 producing network office in the country. It will take work, but there's no doubt we can get there." More than anything, to Kevin, achieving those goals involves buy-in from every member on the team. "That's the great thing about our business. You can be competitive and be a great team member. There's no win-lose when you succeed, it only drives others to succeed around you. We want to be the best because we want the best for everyone around us.Kevin Lawhon credits his family, especially wife Wendy, for his continued growth throughout his career. "She, without a doubt, has had the greatest impact on me. She is my biggest fan."And he is humbly thankful for all they have accomplished together. "I've been blessed. It is by the grace of God that I have prospered in spite of myself. There is no better time to be in the business because of the company's long history of doing the right thing. I've always believed in the Golden Rule. And because the company has always done the right thing for our policyowners, we are now reaping the benefits."As Kevin Lawhon focuses on building his legacy as Managing Partner, he knows he will be doing it with an amazing team and strong energy around him.
